When racers think of SPEED they think of Alabama. With tracks like Talladega, Mobile and Montgomery Motor Speedway few states compare to the brand of racing that Alabama provides. This weekend Montgomery Motor Speedway presents the “Saturday of Speed” featuring the Pro Late Model Division competing for 100 laps of high speed fender banging action. rolls into the House of Speed with an 18 point lead over 2nd place Bill Bethea III. The Montgomery driver would like to close that gap with a good run and possible win in the inaugural run of the “Saturday of Speed”. 3rd place position at just 20 points out is Crossville, Ala driver Chase Oliver, Oliver is coming off two 3rd place finishes after a disappointing opening race for the 2014 season. Justin South is looking to keep his winning ways as he has had a very successful run in the open sportsman class at MMS and scored a win in the second Pro Late Model twin 50 feature on June 14th. Drivers from Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida will be competing for the $3500 first place purse.
With a rain out on August 9th the Open Wheel Modifieds will attempt to get the second race of 2014 under their belts. Daniel Hamrac piloting the #8 machine
was the fastest car before the rain washed out our last event. The Semmes, Ala driver was in victory lane on July 12th and will have his work cut out for him as a stout field of Open Wheel Modifieds that will hit the track for the 50 lap feature. Johnny Brazier in the Space and Rocket Auto sales #71 from Hazel Green, Alalooks to better his 3rd place finish and contend for the win. Huntsville Alabama’s Jeff Letson will be rolling into MMS with a 2 car team and youngster Parker Pugh in the second ride. Letson plans to see the two 131 cars at the front of the pack. Billy Melvin #141 from Trussville, Al has shown great success across the southeast and looks for a podium finish after a disappointing first outing.
Fans will be treated to a full night of racing at the historic oval as the fan favorite Uncle Bob’s Self Storage Street Stocks will rumble for 30 laps and open Sportsman will compete in a 35 lap contest.
The evening will finish with a Mini Van Road course race with the grocery getters roaring down the front stretch and returning down pit road. The night will be filled with giveaways and fun for the whole family.
Tickets are only $15 for Adults $10 Seniors and Military, $5 kids 6-12 and 5 and under are always free. Pits open at 1, Grandstands at 5 Budweiser qualifying at 6 and green flag racing at 7.
