April 30, 2025 Montgomery, Alabama: Saturday Night April 26, 2025, Montgomery Motor Speedway hosted the Inaugural Tri-Track Cruise Quest race. This series was formed in collaboration with 5 Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway for our Street Stock and Sportsman drivers to compete to win a free Cruise vacation. The series will return to 5 Flags Speedway on May 16 and Mobile International Speedway on June 21.
Along with our Shelby Concrete Street Stocks, we also had great Late Model Sportsman and Crown Stock features. We had 20 Street Stocks entered into Saturday’s race, with Montgomery Motor Speedway Veteran, #6 Charles Davis winning the Bama Budweiser Fast Time Qualifier award, followed by #cd1 Jonathan Langham in 2nd, and #32k Kameron Wesenberg 3rd fastest. #5 Chris Wagner, #77 Jeffrey Campbell, and #2 Jeff Thompson took the podium for the BlackSheep Woodlands Late Model qualifying, and #4 Chris Salter, #15 Marty Bean, and #6r Austin Reeves were the podium Crown Stock qualifiers.
The first race of the night was the 25-lap Crown Stock feature, where Prattville’s Father-Daughter duo #15 Marty Bean and #151 Sydni Bean raced against each other and finished 2 spots apart. Pole qualifier #4 Chris Salter took the lead on lap 7 from 15-year-old rookie #20 Tanner Bethea and didn’t look back. Marty Bean stayed in the top 3 throughout the entire race and finished the race in 3rd.

Following the Crown Stock race, the Shelby Concrete Street Stocks lined up for their 40-lap feature. 2nd place Crown Stock finisher Tanner Bethea watched his uncle #6b Joe Bethea wheel his street stock from 7th to 3rd place and park it on the front stretch after the race. #16 Dawson Parker was the hard charger of the race, starting 13th and finishing +9 in 4th. #99 Robert Lowery made a great showing and gained 5 spots in his first Montgomery Motor Speedway debut. #8s Will Smith started 5th and battled with #32 Kameron Wesneberg for the first 9 laps before taking the lead and keeping it for the remaining 30 laps. #cd1 Jonathan Langham stayed in the top 3 for the entirety of the race and finished 2nd behind Smith.

The final race of the evening was the 40-lap BlackSheep Woodland Late Model Sportsman feature. #5 Chris Wagner and #77 Jeffrey Campbell battled for the lead for the majority of the first 10 laps before Wagner gained the advantage and pulled away from Campbell. #05 Hunter Tyus and #88 Larry Hughes had a battle for 5th and 6th place during parts of the race, but Tyus won that battle and finished 5th. #2 Jeff Thompson finished 3rd for his Montgomery Motor Speedway debut, making it a 1-2-3 North Alabama driver finish. This is the 2nd BlackSheep Woodland Late Model Sportsman race of the 2025 season and also the 2nd Wagner-Campbell 1-2 finish; one is hoping to keep the trend going, and the other is hoping to reverse it at the next race on May 17. 2025

Our next race is the Disturbing the Peace 100 on May 17 with a 100-lap Show Me The Money Pro Late Model race, the Season opener 40-lap Impact Zone Outlaw Late Model race, and a 40-lap BlackSheep Woodland Late Model Sportsman race.
Montgomery Motor Speedway opened in 1953 and has a rich tradition of Stock Car racing, Home of the original “Alabama Gang” it has seen many of the greats compete at this historic track.
