Race Teams Disturb the Peace at Montgomery Motor Speedway

Montgomery, Alabama (June 7, 2026) — Disturbing the Peace Weekend at Montgomery Motor Speedway was host to a great program of grassroots racing, with the Show Me The Money Pro Late Models at the forefront.

In addition to the headlining Pro Late Models, three of Montgomery’s core divisions also ran feature events on Saturday night. The Black Sheep Woodlands Late Model Sportsmen, South Alabama Plumbing & Electric Outlaws, and Shelby Concrete Street Stocks all held feature events as well.

Jake Finch Prolongs Extraordinary Pro Late Model Season with Disturbing the Peace Victory

If 2026 has proven one thing, it’s that Jake Finch (no. 18) and Ronnie Sanders Racing are going to be a winning combination almost every time they hit the track.

Saturday night’s Disturbing the Peace 100 proved to be no different, with Finch picking up his third victory of the season at Montgomery and his sixth win overall in 2026. Aside from the competitors on track, Finch and company first had to face another foe early on in the Show Me The Money Series Pro Late Model feature: Mother Nature.

A brief rain shower halted the action before it even really began, with the race coming to a pause with just 8 laps completed. After a rain delay which lasted nearly 90 minutes, the competitors of the Show Me The Money Series got back on track, with Finch holding the top spot from that point onward. Finch had grabbed the lead from polesitter Nicholas Naugle (no. 08) just moments before the race was paused due to weather.

Finch held off both Naugle as well as Brandon Lopez (no. 6) to eventually score the victory, with both drivers keeping Finch honest the whole night through.

“I wish we could have just kept going and not had the rain, so I appreciate everybody sticking out after the rain,” Finch said in victory lane. “Hopefully, it was a decent show. It was fun for me. Good car. I thought we struggled a little bit. Luckily, we were a little bit better than the people behind us, but definitely need to work on a few things for the next one and just keep digging.”

Brandon Lopez, who came home in second place, did so with a race car that wasn’t exactly comfortable, with his no. 6 Bryson Lopez Racing machine losing power steering early on in the race.

“We had a great race car tonight,” Lopez said post-race. “Unfortunately, we lost power steering right when we took the green. The race car was great, I can’t thank the guys enough. We worked real hard this week to get this thing right, and we knew we had a good piece. I wish we redrew a little bit better. That 18 is hard to beat, but I would have loved to have a better shot at it. Maybe next time.”

Rounding out the podium was fast qualifier Nicholas Naugle in the no. 08. Naugle, a native of Nova Scotia, had a pretty successful debut trip to Alabama’s House of Speed.

“We came here not knowing what the track would be like at all, never made laps at this place,” said Naugle. “My team worked really hard to get us an awesome piece. It was awesome to be able to qualify faster than these guys. We faced a few struggles in the race, and I’m real happy that we managed to bring this home. I think I’m taking a liking to this place. I think you’ll see me back here in another Pro race, maybe even a Super.”

Weston Marthaler came home fourth in the FatHead Racing no. 100. Finch’s closest competition for the Show Me The Money Series title, Presley Johnson, rounded out the top five in his Kyle Busch tribute no. 51.

Johnson, who normally races the no. 82 Pro Late Model, changed his number to 51 to honor the late Kyle Busch. Johnson led the field under pace laps prior to the start of the Disturbing the Peace 100 while displaying a 2019 Kyle Busch NASCAR Cup Series championship flag.

Trey Grimes Prevails in Chaotic Late Model Sportsman Feature

On paper, things looked easy for Trey Grimes (no. 51) on his way to victory in Saturday night’s Black Sheep Woodlands Late Model Sportsman 35-lapper. However, it was far from it. Grimes started up front by virtue of the invert and led every lap, but several incidents further back in the field halted the progress of Grimes and prolonged his visit to victory lane. Several competitors who were in the mix for the victory were taken out early, including fast qualifier John Wilkinson (no. 11) and points leader J.R. Hartley (no. 12). Despite the carnage behind him though, Grimes still managed to pull off what was an emotional victory for him and his team.

“My last win was in 2022. It’s been a long time,” said Grimes. “I forgot how good these feel. We definitely weren’t the best car today, just in the right place at the right time.”

Behind Grimes, Thomas Hartzog (no. 00) came home in second place. Branon Bishop (no. 75) rounded out the podium in third, with Michael Silvey (no. 28) and Larry Hughes (no. 88) completing the top five.

Augie Grill Returns to His Winning Ways with Outlaw Late Model Triumph

Veteran racer Augie Grill (no. 82) returned to a familar place on Saturday night, that being Montgomery Motor Speedway victory lane. “Mr. Montgomery” had a spectacular showing in the South Alabama Plumbing & Electric Outlaw Late Model feature, setting the fast time in qualifying and reataining his spot with a fortunate roll of the invert dice. Leading every lap of the event, the win for Grill and crew showed that he still has the passion necessary to win despite his recent health setbacks.

“It’s pretty special,” said Grill in victory lane. “I had surgery about two months ago and this is my first time back in a car, really. Being able to get a checkered flag and a trophy is pretty cool. Thanks for all the fans for coming out tonight. Great crowd, good field of cars here, thanks Stan [Narrison] for providing us with a place to race. It’s been a lot of fun.”

Behind Grill, points leader Timothy Watson (no. 28) finished in the runner-up spot, with Spencer Bragg (no. 08) finishing third. Keeton Harris (no. 07) and Tanner Arms (no. 87) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth places respectively.

Hunter Bobo Prevails in Epic Street Stock Clash

While Hunter Bobo (no. 51) started on the front row and ultimately parked his machine in victory lane, it was not a straightforward drive for him. Several comers and goers made the Shelby Concrete Street Stock feature a thrilling race, with the battle for the win eventually becoming a three car breakaway in the closing laps. Bobo, Howard Langham (no. 1), and Kameron Wesenberg (no. 32) all battled for the lead, throwing crossover after crossover, making contact with each other and virtually staying under a blanket in the closing stages. When it was all said and done though, Bobo held off a late charge from his two peers to score the victory on Saturday night.

“It was a good race, I thought it was a clean race,” said Bobo. “The no. 1 didn’t think it was clean, but with two laps to go, you’ve gotta use the bumper a bit. I had a good time.”

Langham would have to settle for second behind Bobo, with Wesenberg rounding out the podium in third place. Fast qualifier Dawson Parker (no. 16) finished in fourth, with Daniel Jacks (no.1) finishing fifth.
