MMS Summer Classic to Feature 73-lap Street Stock Race

Montgomery, Alabama (July 28, 2026) — The stage is set for one of the biggest Shelby Concrete Street Stock events of the 2026 season at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

The Summer Classic on Saturday, August 29th will feature a 73-lap Street Stock feature, paying $1,000 to win and $150 to start. The lap count pays tribute to 73 years of short track racing at Montgomery Motor Speedway, an impressive feat for one of America’s most storied racing facilities.

Dawson Parker leads the Shelby Concrete Street Stocks by a margin of just 10 points over Nicky Pate, meaning that the Summer Classic 73-lapper will prove to be a crucial chapter in the 2026 title fight.

The choice to run 73 laps specifically is a way to pay homage to the 73 years of racing that have taken place at Alabama’s House of Speed. In last year’s running, the event was 72 laps, and the 2024 running was just 71 laps. Charles Davis has emerged victorious in the event the past two years, with Jonathan Langham winning the 70-lap rendition back in 2023.

More information on the Summer Classic will be shared in the coming weeks, as Montgomery Motor Speedway first prepares for the Saturday of Speed Twin 73’s on August 15th.
