Rumble by the River Brings Heavyweight Battles to Montgomery

Montgomery, Alabama (April 20, 2026) — The return of the ASA Southern Super Series brought plenty of action and intrigue to Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday night with the running of the Rumble by the River 125.

In addition to the Super Late Models, there was also racing action from the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Modifieds of Mayhem Tour powered by Chevrolet Performance, the Shelby Concrete Street Stocks, and the Hometown Automotive Solutions Crown Stocks.

Jake Garcia Scores a Knockout Victory in Southern Super Series 125-Lapper

Saturday night’s ASA Southern Super Series feature was a pretty straightforward affair for 2021 series champion and current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competitor Jake Garcia (no. 35), who made his return to Montgomery for the first time since the 2022 season. Garcia also has winning experience at Montgomery in the Show Me The Money Pro Late Model division, so it wasn’t surprising to see him run towards the front.

Taking the lead away from Dustin Smith (no. 33) following a competition caution at Lap 50, Garcia was in control of the field from that point on, simply never looking back. Despite another halt in the action and an incident towards the rear of the field in the race’s closing stages, nothing could deter Garcia on his way to victory lane.

“Ricky [Turner] gave me a really good car,” said Garcia in victory lane. “The first part of the race is just about managing, trying to control the race as much as possible. Really awesome to get to come to Montgomery again. It’s been over three years since I’ve raced here. Been wanting to come back and just hadn’t had the opportunity. It’s always good when you get to come back to one of your favorite race tracks.”

Behind Garcia, it was Spencer Davis (no. 96) who prevailed in the race for second place. Late-race restarts put Davis in position to potentially challenge Garcia for the lead, but he ultimately fell just short.

“Hats off to Ricky Turner, Jake Garcia, they were the class of the field tonight,” said Davis post-race. “We tried to do what we can on those restarts, starting in second. He could even get better launches than us. We worked hard all weekend. We turned every nut and bolt on this car, changed shocks four or five times. Qualifying didn’t show what we wanted, but we raced really good. We just have to get a little bit better.”

Matt Craig, who won the last two renditions of the Rumble by the River 125 in 2024 and 2025, rounded out the podium in third place.

“It was a hard race. I know it wasn’t a lot of cars, but it was fun. We were racing as hard as we could. We just missed it a little bit. We kind of got off this year, haven’t had the speed. The track’s always been good to me, so I was hoping we could get a good run and get some momentum going in the right direction.”

Behind the podium finishers, Dylan Fetcho (no. 7) came home in fourth position after struggling earlier in the race. Tristan McKee (no. 5) set the fastest time in qualifying, but had to settle for a fifth-place result.

Kaden Honeycutt Goes Back-to-Back in Modifieds of Mayhem Competition at Montgomery

The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Modifieds of Mayhem Tour powered by Chevrolet Performance feature saw another NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competitor have a good night at Montgomery on Saturday, that being Kaden Honeycutt (no. 30). Starting on the outside of the front row, Honeycutt quickly jumped to the lead by the end of the first set of corners and could not be stopped en route to victory lane.

The win stands as a testament to the continued success of Honeycutt’s team, a stable of cars prepared by John Heil. Honeycutt’s victory on Saturday means that he’s now gone back-to-back, having been victorious in the tour’s last visit to Montgomery for the Hunt for the Bear 62 back in March.

“Thank you to Stan [Narrison], everyone at Montgomery Motor Speedway for an amazing facility and an awesome race track to race on,” said Honeycutt in victory lane. “I love running on these worn-out racetracks. Thank you to all the fans that showed up tonight. I know Stan appreciates all of you showing up and supporting weekly racing.”

The 2026 World Series of Asphalt Florida Modified champion, Jared Maupin (no. 96), came home in the runner-up position.

“It was a scramble after the last race here, we tore that car up pretty bad,” said Maupin. “Got this car, worked really hard learning on how to configure it. I’m glad it’s in one piece, second-place finish isn’t bad for the first time in it.”

Behind Maupin, it was 2025 Hunt for the Bear winner Kevin Peel (no. 18) who rounded out the podium in third.

“The car was good tonight,” said Peel. “We got hung up in first gear on a restart. If I hadn’t done that, I think we could have run second. I think Kaden was saving a little bit.”

Behind Peel, Derrick Griffin (no. 95) finished fourth. Buddy Anderson (no. 62) completed the top five.

Chad Robinson Inherits Street Stock Win Following Post-Race Tech

The road to victory lane wasn’t what Chad Robinson (no. 10) probably imagined, but it resulted in a victory nonetheless. Justice Evans (no. 44) was the driver who originally crossed the line first in the Shelby Concrete Street Stock feature, but he was disqualified in post-race technical inspection for excessive compression in his engine. The disqualification therefore handed the victory to Robinson, a regular Street Stock competitor at Mobile International Speedway and Five Flags Speedway.

“We came up here just so we could see what we had for everybody else,” said Robinson post-race. “Had a good piece tonight, think I tried to save tires a bit too long. I just gotta thank everybody that helps.”

The podium was affected by another disqualification also, as the original fourth place finisher of Charles Davis (no. 6) was disqualified for a weight infraction. As a result, Hunter Bobo (no. 51) and Kameron Wesenberg (no. 31) rounded out the podium in second and third respectively. Mason Johnston (no. 06) officially came home fourth, with Nickey Pate (no. 08) in fifth.

Chris Salter Prevails in Toe-to-Toe Crown Stock Battle

The Hometown Automotive Solutions Crown Stocks saw a thrilling battle for the win ensue between Chris Salter (no. 8) and Austin Reeves (no. 6) all race long. The two leaders were virtually under a blanket the entire race, with Reeves constantly lurking behind the rear bumper of Salter. Reeves just couldn’t muster a race-winning run on Salter, ultimately coming home in second as Salter claimed the victory.

“That was awesome,” said Salter in victory lane. “It’s cool to run with Austin. He races you with respect. That was awesome, 20 hard laps there.”

Behind Salter and Reeves, Rock Clifford (no. 12) rounded out the podium in third position. Hunter Sumrall (no. 08) and Sydni Bean (no. 151) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth places respectively.
